G'Day TwoDogs,
"We dont greive about our MIAs, we just hope they'll return one day"Good To See that you are up and flying again.
I read your the post you referred to on GOI Forums and had a chuckle at the many forms of protest you have arranged (RP wise) to challenge Clan Atreides Jihad.
That thread had created a lot of excellent roleplay posts and it took some time to read them all in detail. I was heartened to see that bass and DracO were still referred to in glowing terms by many of our clans' friends.
(As it is, I haven't been that active on the PC lately, but I do pop in to see how bass is going when time permits, and also browse GOI Forums to keep abreast of things.) I must point out to you and all other interested readers that Texas was not the original birthplace of bass, in fact it was Bering.
The Pilot known as bass2000 formed clan bass wayback in mid 804AS and Bering was (to the best of my knowledge) the first system he claimed and was the original Home system.
At that time, under the old rules, a maximum of 3 Systems could be owned by a clan and I think I am correct in stating that they had to be connected on one border.
Anyhooo Hudson and Texas were also claimed (or won) and all three were retained by bass at the time that I joined up in late 804AS.
I think TBK joined a month before me but I wasn't aware he was a member until the clan was challenged in early 805AS for both Hudson and Texas by a young clan by the name of Lighthouse.
Due to the administrative incompetence of Lighthouse's noobish clan leader, Zoid, bass retained both Systems by default.
To celebrate our easy defence of the Two Systems (we never fired a shot!) and the refoundation of bass by TBK and myself, we decided to move our Home to Texas.
Texas had a lot to offer as it had very profitable missions out of Beumont, ideal for generating recruitment funds for a small clan and was a relatively safe system to recruit new members just venturing out of New York.
As Texas (back on Earth) had a wild western past, it was ideally suited for TBK and I to exercise our noobish attempts at roleplay. (I guess we saw ourselves as Space Cowboys) ;D
And another thing it had in its favour over Bering, that really appealed to me was that it wasn't infested with then cursed "floating rocks"....we had our 1st real battle with G3NOCIDE in Bering, both our clans were only wealthy enough to fight with Guns Only if I recall and it took forever to land a shot with all them asteroids blocking our view...(serves me right for picking that section of space for a battle)
I still regard Texas as the 'Home' of the refounded bass, and if I have anything to do with it, I will always be keen on seeing bass return to claim and hold it as our Home system.
TBK did a great job of planning and eventually reclaiming Texas (cos I whinged and whined a lot about it too) and I was saddened to see that bass has once again been pushed back from the inner LIberty Systems.
......oops
I just scanned back over some of my earliest posts on GOI Forums and in one post I actually state that Texas was our Home system.....(my bad, I was a noob to system claiming etc and I corrected that error in a later post)
perhaps this is where TwoDogs made the incorrect deduction if so I apologise for filling this thread with redundant text.
ah well I can't fly atm (RLIBs still in full effect) but I am determined to dust off my mothballed fleet of VHFs and Droms and return to GOI space as soon as possible.
Oh poo, ma first postage in ages an I done writ anuvver Fleggellation...
again I say, good on you TwoDogs, good to see you are still "one of us"
